NCPOFFC Webinar: Teen Dating Violence and Protection Orders / 4 November 2013

Hosted by: National Center on Protection Orders and Full Faith & Credit (NCPOFFC)

Date: Monday, November 4, 2013
Time: 1:00pm - 2:30pm (Eastern Time)
Location: Your Desk

Presenter: Tonya Turner, Director of Legal Services, Break the Cycle (Washington, DC)

Description: This webinar will explore the topic of teen dating violence. Many teenagers and young adults are experiencing abuse in their relationships. This abuse can look vastly different than the abuse experienced by adult victims of domestic violence. Teens and young adults relate to each other, as well as their environment differently than adults. They are also well versed in technology and social media. Because of these reasons, teen dating abuse may take different forms and require different relief than that needed for an adult relationship.  Several states allow teens to obtain protection orders, and some even provide protection orders with relief that specifically meets the needs of teens and young adults.
