2012 CLSSP Institute: Back to Our Roots / 31 July - 2 August 2012

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence against Women and presented by the National Latin@ Network for Healthy Families and Communities (NLN), a project of Casa de Esperanza.

About the Institute
The CLSSP 2012 Institute will bring together over 100 grantees and experts from a variety of fields. This institute will provide participants with significant opportunities for networking, resource and expertise sharing and critical discussions on traditionally challenging topics. 

Two representatives from each site are required to attend.
Participants can be from the lead organization or MOU partner agencies.

Back to Our Roots
This institute will ground us in the roots of our work so that we can strengthen innovation and growth by:
  • Using culture as a catalyst for social change and healing; and 
  • (Re) connecting to our history and core values as a social justice movement.

Institute Objectives

By the end of the institute participants will be better able to:
  1. Critically analyze the philosophical, historical, and social context of the anti-violence and other social justice movements.
  2. Promote culture and art as means of social justice and healing.
  3. Integrate concrete organizational development practices and tools in their advocacy work.
  4. Enhance their individual, systems and community advocacy based on the above mentioned critical analysis.

Institute Fees
There is NO registration fee to attend the institute. However, participants and presenters are responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses. This is an OVW-sponsored event therefore OVW funds can be used to attend. Please, check with your OVW program specialist for confirmation and guidance.

Hotel
Hotel information will be emailed to the email address you submit on your registration form. The rate for sleeping rooms is the 2011-2012 government per Diem rate for New Orleans, LA, which is $101.00 plus tax per night single, $121.00 plus tax per night double (sharing).
