The goal of the training is to provide participants with information and resources to enhance their advocacy and trial skills. Participants will examine the roles of the advocate and the attorney in working with victims of intimate partner violence. Through the use of scenarios, demonstrations, interactive discussion, role-play, and mock hearings, participants will enhance their advocacy and trial skills. Topics will include full faith and credit, interstate custody, domestic violence related firearm prohibitions and other issues relevant to the issuance, service, and enforcement of protection orders.

This training is free to register for and open to attorneys and advocates.

Room rate is the government per diem rate of $175.00 per night, plus
14.5% tax, and the room block is in the conference hotel. The conference
hotel is the Dupont Circle Hotel. Your registration confirmation will
include instructions
and deadlines for making hotel reservations.
